Article: Making a Case for the Affordable Couch – Wit & Delight

If you’ve been following along with our studio remodel and my basement renovation, then you know how much we love Article. Not only is it Kate and Joe approved, it’s August and Winnie approved, too. The reason we keep coming back to Article for our projects is that they make furniture that’s even more stylish than it is affordable. There’s plenty of high-end designer furniture to blog about, but I know at the end of the day you guys are, at times, looking to make a big purchase and not everyone can drop $5K on a leather sofa. Joe and I wanted a cozy leather sofa for our basement but other brands were just too pricey. We settled on Article’s Sven sectional because it was perfect for our budget and looked great in the space. It’s also incredibly comfortable.

It’s safe to say that we’re super happy with the couch in the basement and I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a couple of leather couches for our living room. We currently have one Sven couch but since August is on the move, we’re spending more time in the living room and need some sofas that fit all of us comfortably. So Joe and I went back to see if there were any other options from Article that could suit our needs. After browsing through their sofa section, I am in love with every. single. one. Seriously. They have some fabulous leather options in pretty shades and velvet ones too. If Winnie’s white fur wasn’t all over everything then velvet would definitely be on my wish list. Take a look at some of my picks below.

This Cube sectional from Article is our favorite place to hold the weekly studio status meetings and entertain new clients.

In addition to making changes at home, we have a big studio expansion that needs some additional seating. We’ve put together a communal work table in the studio and went with an Article bench on one side and chairs on the other. It was fun to use pieces we had around the office to put together a new area to gather for a quick pow-wow. If you’re looking to add some extra seating to your space, we put together some great selects below. A leather pouf or velvet daybed can really add richness to a room without going over budget!

Love this post, Kate! Perfect timing. I ordered fabric samples from Article a week ago and they just came in the mail. I am leaning towards the Timber Sofa in Rain Cloud Grey and the Timpani Poof in Charme Tan for our living room.

How has your poof held up with normal wear and tear?

I love the matrix in pink!

I’m really curious about how your tan Sven sofa is holding up after two years? I have one, but learned the hard way that the leather absorbs stains REALLY quickly. (Not a dog stain… it was me.) Since then I’ve been terrified to let my dogs (or any kind of food) anywhere near it. But I’m getting exhausted because these are stubborn dogs. What I’m asking is, does your couch now have a ton of scratches and discolored areas from the dog laying on it?? Should I just relax and live my life? 😅
