Congrats, kids. We’ve made it to the unofficial start of summer. I spent this weekend pulling out my floral dresses and floppy hats, and this year neck scarves are at the top of my “accessories to try” list, right along with straw bags and statement hats. I’ve been collecting pretty scarves for a while now, and I was excited when Joe brought me back a beautiful silk scarf from Japan. I’ve always considered scarves a classic accessory that makes every outfit a bit more stylish. The internet has told me multiple times that they’re a fashion girls’ favorite way to personalize. Since most of us at the office have mastered wearing scarves around our necks, we’ve pulled together 5 different ways to wear them (and most importantly, not all involve your neck). Which one will you be trying out??
We’ll just get this one out of the way: the neck is the obvious way to wear your scarf but it’s no less stylish. Try wrapping it around a couple of times, tying a knot in the front and then sliding that knot to the side. This looks super polished and dresses up any casual outfit. I always love a classy silk scarf tied to the side and paired with a button-up.
This earthy scarf, loosely tied in the back (paired with an open back top), looks cute from both the front and back!
A great way to update classic blue jeans, add some flare with a bandana tied around one belt loop.
Or try an over-sized colorful scarf paired with a solid basic top and bottom.
Go Rosie the Riveter style and tie a scarf in your hair. Tie it around your head and tuck in the ends in the front. Bonus points for wearing one to the beach! We love this look.
Classic striped scarves twisted in the middle look amazing with bangs and an up-do.
We are into this messy and disheveled hippie vibe. Style your scarf loosely and pull out small pieces of hair to frame your face.
Red scarves on brunettes are so pretty. Try twisting it to create a top knot in the middle.
Your everyday bag could surely use an update. Add a scarf to your purse for a tiny detail that packs a fashion-forward punch.
Loving the long silky ivory scarf with this smaller purse.
This is probably my favorite new way to style a scarf. Wrap and tie it around your ankle for an unexpected touch. Add some ankle bracelets for summer perfection.
This silk scarf looks classy on your ankle paired with cut-off jeans and alligator flats.
And keep your hair out of your face on the boat, bike, or convertible with this full coverage approach.

I love this post soooo much!! I’ve been wanting a scarf for ages but, I just haven’t got round to buying one. I love the idea of wearing one around your head in a messy up-do – I need a new way to style my hair and that just seems like the perfect option 🙂 I smiled when seeing it around the bag because I used to do that when I was thirteen with my school bag, it made… Read more »

I’m a fan of scarves! They have power to transform a blah outfit into something special. I have a question about the pants (linen, maybe?) in the image of the neck scarf around the neck, but hanging at the back – Can you tell me where to find the pants? Love them!
