Happy (early) National Ice Cream Day! For those of us with a sweet tooth, July 16th is arguably one of the best days of the year, especially since most of the country is in the midst of a 90-degree heatwave. So you better believe most of us at the studio will be whipping up, buying, and consuming as much ice cream as possible. In the summertime, I like to go for lighter ice cream and sorbet flavors to fend off the heat. They’re perfect for flavor exploration in the warmer months– try adding chunks of fruit mixed with unexpected ingredients like balsamic vinegar or a bit of booze (because why not?). Summer is also ripe for experimentation in the form of ice cream-making from scratch. And I don’t mean with an old school churn that requires salt, ice, and quite a bit of elbow grease. When I make ice cream at home I use the ice cream attachment for my Kitchen Aid Mixer. It works like a charm and makes just enough. I think for this year’s National Ice Cream Day I’ll make one sorbet and one creamy treat.

Ah, this post is making me drool, since it’s 11pm now and a bit too late for ice cream. I had no idea it was National Ice Cream Day, though! Awesome! Shall celebrate it late tomorrow, haha!

Oh man… not only do those ice creams look amazing but those photos!!!! For real, incredible! I just finished eating an ice cream bar from Aldi before reading this post so while I’m technically celebrating National Ice Cream Day (it starts in 33 minutes here in Minnesota), I WISH I was celebrating eating one of those treats from the photos! They look AMAZING!!!
