Eight months. 

That’s how long one of our high-traffic rugs lasted in the house since getting another dog.  It held up in our studio for almost five years but was no match for the long nails and unending energy of a small puppy.

I do my best to consider the longevity of a piece when purchasing, which is why I was flabbergasted that it took my two kids and two dogs mere months to utterly decimate a rug that I thought would be around for years to come.  

I try to remind myself this is just a season in life. That, eventually, I won’t have to worry about accidents (both human and dog-related) or spills, and that someday I’ll look back on this time fondly. That’s what I keep telling myself.
