They Say Opposites Attract – Find Your Opposing Zodiac Soulmate

We’re in the dog days of summer, and we’re looking for our latest fling. Traditional wisdom dictates that signs are best matched within their own element (Water with Water, Fire with Fire, Earth with Earth and Air with Air) but there is a lot to be said for taking the plunge and dating your polar opposite, the sign that lives directly across the Zodiac wheel – six signs apart. Polar opposite sign match-ups have an intense carnality that can’t be ignored; as Paula Abdul sagely sang, – Opposites Attract.

Aries is ruled by Mars (planet of passion), Libra ruled by Venus (planet of love), making this a true Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus situation. This combination has instant attraction – Aries is boldness and intensity, Libra is wit and charm.

Their perfect date: A long hike (with a quick pit-stop to skinny dip in a secluded lake.) It’s all adventure for these two!

What to watch out for: Both signs are known for their strong opinions (they are Cardinal signs, after all), but whereas Aries is blunt and fast-moving, Libra is much more methodical and even-keeled. Both are “always right” and will have a hard time admitting they are at fault.

Tauruses are the most beautiful sign in the Zodiac, Scorpios are the most passionate. Bring these two together, and you’ve got the makings of an affair to remember. Both signs are guarded with their feelings, but once they let one another in, this is quite the sensual pair.

Their perfect date: Sharing a bottle of wine and splitting a prix fixe menu at the hottest restaurant in town, capped off with an overnight at that hip hotel everyone is Instagramming.

What to watch out for: Scorpio is mysterious and is quick to have hurt feelings, Taurus is predictable and insensitive– these two may have a hard time communicating on a deep level.

The social butterflies of the zodiac, these two flirty signs get along immediately, and have no issue with communication; in fact, once they start talking, they may never stop! This is a relationship that screams “FREEDOM,” with neither sign up for taking anything seriously. They cherish their alone time, and may only need to see each other a couple days a week.

Their perfect date: An afternoon of thrift shopping, followed by an evening of drinking Miller High Life at a dive bar.

What to watch out for: Both signs are commitment-phobic, and neither likes to be the “serious” one in the relationship; it can be hard for this pair to settle down with one another.

While this match may seem confusing on paper – Capricorn is analytical, Cancer is intuitive – this can be a great match. Capricorn grows to appreciate Cancer’s nurturing, and Cancer finds comfort in Capricorn’s stability. Both signs are homebodies, and they love being comfortable.

Their perfect date: Cuddling under a blanket, eating Vietnamese egg rolls in bed while they binge-watch The Keepers on Netflix.

What to watch out for: Capricorn is notoriously hard on themselves – their career is ultra-important, and they can get lost in their work. Cancer is sensitive- if they notice a shift in Cap’s attention, it can send them into a tailspin.

Zany Aquarius and cheerful Leo are bound to have fun with one another – they are the friendliest signs in the Zodiac. Aquarius keeps Leo interested through their eccentric nature and their refreshing (if not slightly off-kilter) world view. Leo returns the favor by indulging their spontaneous nature.

Their perfect date: Exploring a cemetery, trying a hole in the wall restaurant, or hunting down their favorite records.

What to watch out for: Leos tend to be on the selfish side, which is tough for the humanitarian Aquarius to take. On the flip side, Aquarians can become cold and unfeeling at the drop of a hat, leaving Leo wondering where they went wrong.

What happens when the most thoughtful signs in the Zodiac get together? A relationship where both parties give, give, give. This relationship is full of good natured one-upmanship, with both signs striving to be the generous one. Acts of service are their love language, with creative Pisces coming up with new ways to surprise their careful Virgo.

Their perfect date: Surprise breakfast in bed, followed by an afternoon volunteering at the local humane association.

What to watch out for: Virgos are orderly in all aspects of life: their homes are meticulous, not a single throw pillow out of place. Pisces are messy and mellow, and their relaxed approach to life can frustrate the exacting Virgo.

So, a Libra for Aries? I don’t think I’ve ever dated one! (been best friends with one, though)

i’m a leo but i’m not a cheerful, outgoing kind of leo. it’s always odd to me because leo is always described as this highly confident, outgoing person. i’m not anything like it, though. i do have an aquarius friend and she IS dating a leo man so this is really funny to me. i, however, cannot handle my aquarius friend sometimes. funny enough, i am now dating a taurus and you’re right, tauruses are lovable. not sure if it’s the case with most tauruses or not but my taurus is (fortunately) as lovely as you’ve described haha (also, i applause tauruses – or at least mine – for having limitless patience and love! :))
