This year marks the twentieth (!) year of the Minnesota College of Art and Design’s annual Art Sale and this is the year I finally marked time off my calendar to take advantage of the full experience. The MCAD Art Sale is held November 16 – 18th, the weekend before Thanksgiving, and it’s the perfect chance to buy original pieces and get a jump on holiday shopping! Minneapolis is known for its local art scene and appreciation of local artisans of all kinds. Since I went to school for graphic design and can’t imagine a home without art, Wit & Delight is promoting the MCAD Art Sale this year in an effort to support local art and artists. We are so excited to announce that we are also holding a GIVEAWAY today through Wednesday, November 8th which ends at midnight! Simply, comment below and answer the following questions for a chance to win! Who is your favorite local artist? Also, who would you bring with you to preview night if you won and why? We will select two winners at random to be announced on the morning of Thursday, November 9th and each will be allocated 2 tickets (for yourself and a guest of your choice) to get into preview night, Thursday, November, 16th from 6-9pm, which is a $150 value! I will also be attending preview night and can’t wait to check out all the paintings, prints, drawings, photography and mixed media art.
Here are some of our favorite works from last year’s sale. We can’t wait to see what this year’s sale brings!

Alec Soth!
And I would bring my friend Angela since she also loves art!
That piece by Rachel Tesch is so good! I really love the photography of Steven Lang and Selma Fernandez Richter. Their photos of everyday life in Minnesota really raise ‘the ordinary to the extraordinary.’ I know my finance and I would really enjoy going to MCAD Art Preview. We are on the look-out for new pieces for our gallery wall and this would be a great opportunity to do so!

I like Ashley Mary and Kate Worum, which I have bought both of their pieces from Target before. I also love everything you design, Kate. Does that count?
I’d bring my work friend to the art sale bc she’s the main person I share art/fashion content with and I appreciate her so much for that.
Favorite local artist is Kater
Ashley Mary – OF course. And I’d bring my aunt with me. I moved here three years ago, and we’ve gone together each year on the free day. Tradition, baby.
I love Hend Al-Mansour’s vibrant prints and installations. We enjoyed showing her work this year at Altered Esthetics.
I really like Willis Bowman who is a kenetic sculpture artist in the Twin Cities. He is actually creating a collaborative piece with me for an overlook in St. Paul MN. I would bring my husband because he has such different taste in art and I find it interesting to hear his point of view.
Warren MacKenzie; classic amazing ceramic work. I’d bring my sister of course! She just happens to be visiting from out of town that weekend. Thank you!
I’ve been patiently waiting for the MCAD sale so I can finally start to fill the walls at our new house. I just hung a print by Cait Courneya (who I discovered at Unique) and I also love Ashley Mary. I would bring a friend who I know also loves the local art scene!
Who is your favorite local artist? I love Thein Ho’s piece above. I also think my hubs is a good artist, though he’s not classified as such – just does it on the side. we’re in Bloomington!
Also, who would you bring with you to preview night if you won and why? i would bring my husband so he could get inspired! what a fun giveaway!
My father-in-law is my favorite local artist and then my children…I have all their work plastered all over my nest. I really should get him a venue for others to enjoy his work. He wouldnt be able to travel so I would bring my friend who has studied art and would enjoy the event. Happy curating!
My favorite local artist is Mary Griep. She combines my two loves art and architecture by using mixed media. She elevates already breathtaking structures into new visual masterpieces. I would take my mother because we have been taking girls days together to the MIA since I was a little girl. She taught me to appreciate the art and culture that surrounds us in MN.
I love Mary Jo Hoffman and her Still blog, and also Charles Beck. I would bring my mother with because her first degree was in art, and I know how much she would appreciate seeing the works of new and emerging artists.
Ashley Mary art is a favorite! I’d bring my sister to enjoy the local art scene with me! She is a teacher, not in the metro, so she would love a trip in to explore the city life and art scene.
I have two favorite local artists, Mike Welton and the late Charles Beck. I would bring my daughter Caitlin with me. She collects and creates.
My favorite local artist is Adam Turman. I would bring my mom with.
One of my fav local artists is a photographer named Renata Rohleder. She went to MCAD and learned how to do professional photography even though she was born with an essential tremor, and calls her shop Shaky Photography! I would bring my daughter that is a senior at Perpich Arts HS. She’s looking at going into museum studies/curating.
One of my favorite local artists is Sarah Nelson, her drawings and colors are wonderful. I also really love her style and that she brings the north shore and wildlife into her art. I would bring my boyfriend Ben as he is always my partner in crime for local events 🙂 Also love seeing everyone’s comments so I can now follow more artists!
I love Mark Cosimini’s work. He’s a local artist in the Twin Cities and is one of the most genuine and friendly artist I’ve met.
I’d bring along my husband to the event. He enjoys art as much as I do and appreciates the work our local artists produce.
Right now my favorite artist is my son. I love seeing the little projects he brings home. I’d love to get some original art for my walls and would love to take a good friend who is an artist.
