Typically recognized as one of the pricier pieces of furniture you buy for your home, choosing a sofa is a big decision. In my own experience, I’ve learned it’s best to wait and see what you’ll need before making a significant decision on an item that will cost you a couple of thousand dollars. And if you aren’t in the position to invest in a statement piece at that price point, I am here to tell you that there are a number of amazing styles and options for sofas that are all under $1000.
The reasons for buying a sofa under $1000 vary; whether you’re living in a small-sized apartment with limited space or are in a transitional period of your life, not looking to invest in any major furniture for a few years, it is important to buy things you feel okay with not working in the long-term space you see yourself someday occupying. Maybe you have young kids or are potty training a dog, or simply just know that you’re in a phase of life where you’re going to be extra hard on your furniture. Whatever the case, it’s crucial you understand the time of life you’re currently in before beginning the style hunt.
We’ve included a number of sofas all under $1000, and a few under $500. As you’ll see, I pulled 10 of my favorites, as well as information on where to shop used or damaged pieces. While sacrificing mint condition quality, you can save $$$ on shipping costs and decrease your carbon footprint. What’s not to love?

Not a traditional pick for a sofa but a great price for a piece that would bring a ton of character and eclectic vibes. Not to mention, a great place to take a cat nap.
If buying new isn’t for you, consider checking out scratch and dent outlets like Blu Dot and Room and Board, or resale sites like Charish and Apt Deco. They are all fantastic options!
