R+Co TEACUP Peacholine + Kombucha Rinse Review
Behold! The R+Co TEACUP Peacholine + Kombucha Rinse

We’re going to begin doing a series of product reviews here on Wit & Delight, where I’ll offer more in-depth information on tried and true products I’ve been using for months (or years!) that have consistently changed my daily routine for the better. These will be unsponsored posts showcasing products hand-selected by yours truly.

First up? A conditioning hair rinse from R+Co. I consider this a “desert island” product. I wouldn’t want to be without it ever again.

What is R+Co TEACUP Peacholine + Kombucha Rinse?

This is a $34 conditioning rinse that removes the buildup from your hair. In my experience, it leaves hair really light and bouncy afterward. It nourishes dry stands, helps prevent color fade, and fights frizz. I’ve also found it helps blowouts last longer, leads to shinier and smoother hair, and promotes a healthier scalp.

A before photo for you!

When and why I started using it

I mentioned to my hairstylist a couple of months ago that I’d been using an apple cider vinegar rinse in my hair. She suggested the R+Co rinse as a similar product that she uses in her hair weekly, and she couldn’t say enough good things about it. She gave me a sample and used it in my hair when I had it washed and cut, and I was hooked from the start. (For anyone in the Minneapolis area who’s interested, I go to Cocoon Salon and my stylist is Marriah!)

My primary hair concerns tend to be frizziness (especially in the summer) and lack of consistency in texture (the back dries wavy, one side dries flat, and one side dries somewhat curly). Giving myself a good blowout has also always been a struggle for me. Before, my at-home blowouts often resulted in dull, kind of sticky hair but lately my post-blowout hair has felt so much healthier and softer.

The change in bounce, smoothness, and overall texture of my hair is noticeably different when I don’t use this conditioner for a week or so. And given I haven’t changed anything about my routine or hair products, I can say it’s this product that has made the biggest difference.

How I use it in my hair

I apply this product twice per week. I’ll put it in after shampooing and conditioning my hair. It comes with a little squirt top that helps distribute the product through the scalp. It’s more of a liquid than a gel, so I’ll run my fingers from my scalp down to the roots to distribute the product. Then I’ll squirt a bit more on my roots. I keep it on for about three minutes, so I’ll exfoliate and shave while the conditioner goes to work.

When I’m out of the shower, I’ll apply any other products (often just R+Co Sun Catcher Leave-In Conditioner), blow out my bangs, rough dry my hair, and use the Dyson round brush to finish the blowout.

My hair after the first time I used it.

Does it have a scent?

Yes! All R+Co products I’ve tried have a signature scent that reminds me a little bit of a fragrance you might buy from Le Labo. It’s a little floral and earthy, with subtle sour and citrus notes. It reminds me of walking through a garden on a warm day.

What about the ingredients list?

This product is vegan, cruelty and gluten-free, paraben and sulfate-free (SLS or SLES), and petrolatum and mineral oil-free. You can find the complete ingredients listed here.

Should you buy it?

Consider trying this product if you have hard water at home, color your hair, and/or are looking for improved shine, consistent texture, and more moisturized hair. I would consider not buying it if you are sensitive to scent or are really happy with your current conditioning rinse. If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it! But if you do try it, let me know what you think!!
