Shopping for shorts can be really difficult! Rarely do product photos show us what we will look like in them once they arrive. Therefore, I think shorts are a particularly good topic to ask your friends about. Which fit best? Which are the most comfortable? When it comes to styling options, which shorts are versatile?
I hope this makes the shopping experience easier for anyone who’s in the market for shorts this summer!
01
Old Navy High-Waisted Linen-Blend Shorts
Bridgette: I was looking for a pair of shorts I could throw on with a t-shirt or tank and not feel squished or bound. I bought these in the flax and railroad stripe styles. The shorts fit true to size in my opinion and are so breezy (in the best of ways). I like the unstructured, effortless look.
Erin: I love that these are a looser-fitting style and that they pair well with just about anything. From my point of view, they run slightly big.
02
Levi’s High-Rise Shorts
I have a couple of pairs of vintage Levi’s (very similar to the ones linked here) I’ve been wearing for years and love. My favorite pair is three sizes bigger than I normally wear; they are loose and breathable while still giving me a nice butt lift—a hallmark of a great pair of Levi’s.
03
Banana Republic Factory Stretch Linen-Blend Shorts
I love the comfort and versatility of these shorts! The length is really nice and they’re great to dress up or down. I love to throw them over a swimsuit or dress them up a bit with a fun top and kitten heels. I also love having the option of adding a belt! The quality is amazing too, so I know they’ll last from summer to summer.
04
H&M Mom High Denim Shorts
I love the cut of these H&M denim shorts. They’re high-waisted and I find them to be really flattering. I bought the black denim wash last summer and there are now two additional washes available. The product stock is low at the moment but if you’re interested, sign up for their “notify me” option, as H&M clothing does sometimes come back in stock!
05
Outdoor Voices Move Free 6” Shorts
These are the athletic shorts of the bunch. They’re great for both sweaty workouts and attire on casual days. I love the high waist and slightly longer length—I find that they don’t sag down or ride up during workouts, both of which are important factors to me. They also have a hidden front pocket which I rely on to stash my apartment key during outdoor runs. They fit true to size for me and come in eight color options, of which I have two!
06
H&M Linen-Blend Pull-On Shorts
I love the length of these shorts and the fabric. They’re stylish and comfortable and are so easy to dress both up and down!
07
Banana Republic Factory Linen-Blend Pull-On Shorts
Similar to the shorts from Banana Republic Factory I recommended above, these pull-on shorts are so comfortable and versatile when it comes to styling. The quality is really good too. These shorts have a really nice shape and look elevated, even with a simple tee or tank.
