Often referred to as the heart of the home, designing your dream kitchen may seem daunting to many. Considering the amount of time you’ll spend there, it’s crucial you set your intentions for the space prior to beginning, saving you from many headaches down the line. Try and be specific about the vision you have when planning, it helps to select a color scheme that emulates whatever energy you’re hoping to provoke. If your dream kitchen looks minimalistic and simple, stick to neutrals or soft pastels. Or, if you’re looking for something with a little spunk, mix in pops of color or eclectic patterns. To offer some interior inspiration, we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite color combos for setting the perfect kitchen mood. What is your color palette of choice?
For an earthy, nature-inspired kitchen atmosphere, incorporate a variety of different materials such as wood or rattan. Not only will these pieces look effortlessly pretty, but the various textures will help add dimension and character to the room. Gotta love yourself some moody hues. Mix in some deep blues and emerald greens to give your kitchen some color while still maintaining a sleek, luxurious appeal. I’ve had my eye on the Blue Figure piece for a while now and think it might be time to pull the trigger. Kate Worum, a local artist (and friend of mine!) designed the print to celebrate the female form in a modern, elegant way.
Incorporate pops of color throughout your kitchen with a gorgeous Cherry-Red Pendant Light or set of Mustard-Colored Stools to line the counter. The added retro hues will give your kitchen its own sense of authenticity and uniqueness – making it truly yours!
Working with pastels often creates an energy that feels cozy and comfortable. If that’s what you’re looking for when designing your kitchen, incorporate light blues, soft pinks, and muted greens. I can only imagine how adorable the Pistachio KitchenAid Stand Mixer would look on someone’s counter!
One of the benefits of developing an eclectic, colorful look to your kitchen is the freedom you have when browsing for furniture and decor because there are no rules! Mix and match different-colored armchairs, hang a bohemian macrame or lay a bright-colored runner.

I really like having a lot of warm, rich tones in my kitchen. They inspire me to do a LOT of baking and experimenting with different ethnic cuisines as well….having rich red, bright yellow, and green in my kitchen reminds me to actually USE all those spices I have. 🙂

Nice blog! I am currently decorating a house working for The Handy Squad and some of the rooms are out of the sunlight so I a using a lot of electric, colourful tones to brighten up the rooms.
Such beautiful photos. I really enjoy kitchens in neutral tones with a sudden pop of color – as you did with the oven at the start of this article…and the yellow cabinets and pink bench at the end. What a wonderful website for inspiration!

Hi! Question – I am mostly a neutral person, as are most things in my home. I am obsessed with the blue that you had posted in the moody cool section. Is it okay to integrate both styles in the same space?
Thanks,
Rachel
