When you have little ones, there are a lot of things to keep track of: doctor appointments, toys, each pair of their tiny socks that the dryer likes to spontaneously eat up, the babies/kids themselves (??). Bringing a small human into your home, in essence, takes your previously semi-organized life and flips it upside down. That’s why, in our belief, it’s so important to have a calm, thoughtfully designed place for you (and your kiddos) to retreat to when necessary. In that spirit, we put together three nursery spaces where your kids can not only sleep peacefully, but where you can also play together, read bedtime stories, create art, the list goes on—consider this little space in the world your oyster.
Now, believe us when we say that perfection is not the goal here. When small humans are involved, messes are inevitably made, furniture will surely be compromised, and the top priority is certainly not creating a spotless room. But it is still nice to have a space that’s both functional and appealing to the eye, to fulfill the design nerd in all of us.
We scoured Amazon to find some of the best items for little ones the Internet has to offer. Each of the three spaces rely on the same crib and dresser as a base, and add in accessories to make the rooms shine.

This space focuses on clean lines and neutral tones, with a few primary colors thrown in for good measure. A simple base leaves plenty of room for whimsical elements like a stool in the shape of an elephant, a retro lamp, and a storage bin peppered with letters. Add in a tiny table and chairs for afternoon playtime—we’ve yet to meet a kid who doesn’t love posting up at their very own table (in a size made just for them) to play with toys, draw in coloring books, or have afternoon tea.
In this bohemian room, the simple base palette is livened up with inviting colors—from bright wall art to a pink patterned rug to a velvet ottoman, there’s no shortage of eye-catching elements. Layered rugs in varying textiles create a cozy space for playing on the floor. A triangle-shaped bookcase allows room to store a few favorite items out in the open—we love the rainbow stacker toy, and our kids do, too. A free standing clothes rack allows even more room for storage, while keeping your child’s most frequently worn clothing items easily accessible.
We kept this space relatively sparse at its core and brought in textural elements like a richly patterned rug and plenty of throw pillows to add depth to the room. Playful additions like a velvet sheep ottoman and a race car keep this room lively and fun for kiddos. Modern accessories like the table lamps and ceramic vase help this kids’ space fit in seamlessly with the aesthetic of a neo-traditional home. And this nursery in particular received approval from Wit & Delight’s official mascot, Winnie Bear (see above photo), which is, of course, the highest honor of them all.
