Kate’s Natural(ish) Skincare Regimen

Beauty

One of my favorite ways to practice self-care is through taking care of my skin. I have my morning and nighttime routines nailed down to a science at this point and am pretty set on the tried and true products I love and will repurchase time and time again.

In recent years, I’ve honed in on a mostly natural skincare regimen, free of parabens, dioxane, SLS, and other ingredients I try to avoid putting on my face and body. Why go natural? The ingredients found in many skincare products can interfere with nervous and reproductive systems. Clearing out the products in my routine is a process that I’ve done slowly, accumulating new favorites as I go.

Below are nine of the products I rely on most fervently, for everything from cleansing to toning to exfoliating. The majority of the products lean toward the natural end of the spectrum, although there are a few that wouldn’t fall into that category. It’s a work in progress, folks.

I’ll also be sharing my entire skincare routine on Instagram stories in the near future, so keep an eye out for all of the details there!

What are your favorite skincare products? I’d love for you to share in the comments!

Cleanser

Light Work Rosehip Cleansing Oil

$56

This light, non-greasy cleansing oil removes makeup without stripping the skin of moisture. I love using an oil for cleansing, as it cleans your face while still maintaining hydration.

Cleanser

Aloe Cleansing Gel

$36

This gentle facial cleanser is packed with essential oils designed to alleviate dryness. I love how clean my pores feel after I use it, without the added sensation of overdrying my skin. This gel is perfect for all skin types and is especially helpful for those looking to improve signs of aging or calm irritated skin.

Exfoliator

Zahara Rewind Tonic

$64

I’ve learned over the years that exfoliating on a regular basis is a key component of maintaining a smooth, clear complexion. I love that this particular tonic provides a lighter exfoliation method that’s much more gentle than some of the other exfoliating products out there.

Toner

Tonic Soothing

$43

I like to use this alcohol-free toner after cleansing to refine my pores and help any moisturizers or serums I put on afterward really absorb into my skin. I find that using a toner helps keep my skin clear and hydrated.

Essence

Concentrated Brightening Essence

$215

While I definitely acknowledge that this product has a high price tag, I find that the benefits it offers are worth it for me. I apply this product morning and night and find that it really helps bright my complexion and even out my skin tone.

Retinol

A313 Vitamin A Pommade

$22

This Retin-A cream carries a low percentage of vitamin A and has a pretty lofty reputation for delivering clear, flawless skin. The reason I keep using it is that it works. I use a pea-sized amount of this product at night and wake up with a clear, more dewy complexion. This product is sold over-the-counter in France but can be a little hard to find in the States, although it is available via Amazon.

Retinol Alternative

Bakuchiol Retinol Alternative Smoothing Serum

$54

This retinol alternative is 100% natural and plant-based. It delivers results super similar to those of a retinol—smoothed fine lines and wrinkles, glowing skin, faded dark spots and redness—without all of the chemicals that come with the original version. I’d highly recommend trying this out if you’re looking for a cleaner approach to anti-aging serums.

Eye Patches

DetoxifEYE

$24

These eye patches contain Hyaluronic acid and caffeine and help to reduce puffiness and dark circles while increasing moisture. I like to use these patches after particularly busy weeks of travel and work.

Resurfacing Mask

Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask

$65

I love what this resurfacing mask does for my skin. I use it a few nights a week and it helps improve texture, makes my skin brighter, and makes pores appear smaller. This product is free of toxins, fillers, artificials, synthetics, and GMOs, so you can feel good about putting it on your face.
