There’s a reason why spring feels so refreshing and life-giving. Transformation is all around us, what seemed dead outdoors is showing signs of life again, and deep in the back of our lizard brains, we’re feeling a little more alive too.
For the month of April, I want to talk about tuning in to this season of transformation with a focused sense of awakeness, especially after spending last month steeped in internal introspection. While a flower does not think about blooming, we have both the gift and burden of being conscious during times of transformation. The urge to shift, to bloom, can be as subtle as a whisper—an almost undetectable change in habit or direction that snowballs into a metamorphosis of self. Or, it can be a call for rebuilding that echoes with the sound of a wrecking ball.
Being more awake to the external changes happening around you can be a great opportunity to get curious, look inward, and set intentions for what you want this season to look like for you.
Sometimes we think about decisions, both big and small, for so long before we actually do them. The more intentionally awake we are to what we’re feeling and thinking, the easier it can be to evolve, to bloom, to move forward.
We have the opportunity to embrace this season of blooming and let it inspire tangible transformations that may have already been in progress for us. Maybe you’ll buy the couch you’ve been wanting; maybe you’ll get the haircut that’s been on your mind; maybe you’ll leave the relationship that’s never felt right. Sometimes we think about decisions, both big and small, for so long before we actually do them. The more intentionally awake we are to what we’re feeling and thinking, the easier it can be to evolve, to bloom, to move forward.
This April, our contributors will be writing about the upside of being a “late bloomer,” the benefits of a nonlinear career path, and what to do when you’re feeling stuck in a rut. I’ll be sharing my favorite transitional outfits for spring and a progress update on the design of our green room. We can’t wait to share this, and plenty more, with you throughout the month ahead.
Nothing blooms all the time, so when it does, being ready to accept it and allow for the resulting growth to happen is so important. You don’t want to miss out on that.
