Saving My Sanity, One Less Dry-Cleaner Trip at a Time

I talk often, and at length at times, about how motherhood has changed me and my world. Some are pretty obvious, but there are some changes that I did not anticipate, despite the warnings I may have received from friends. For instance, I knew that my time would be further divided between work and home, but I didn’t take into account the daily household needs that [ahem] may have been already pushed on the back burner due to work and just overall disinterest.

The household task that dramatically increased after having a baby is laundry. It was never in my top ten list of things I want to spend my time on, but now, it’s just the worst. I’m not sure if my disdain for laundry stems from the fact that we now have mountains of it (Exhibit A) or that I’m hyper-aware of the cleanliness of items he is contact with. And thanks to my teething baby who loves to gorge himself on milk, everything is dirty. All. Of. The. Time. I’m not just talking about my clothes. It’s blankets. And pillows. And bedding. And towels.

Even though we had some temperamental fabrics in our bedroom that August so lovingly “christened” with spit up, Winnie has also claimed some of our favorite decor items as her own. The result? Our bedroom was in need of a serious refresh, but we didn’t want to be running to the dry cleaner 24/7 for items that didn’t require a “full-service” clean. We were just beginning to research a solution that we could use for “touch ups” when LG reached out to us for a partnership.

Admittedly, once I knew that LG had a new product to simplify laundry, and make it more convenient to clean special items, I was on board. We already had an LG washer and dryer in the house, so I knew the LG Styler would be a fit, both from a quality and aesthetic point of view.

We’ve had the Styler in our home for about a week now, and I went nuts. Pillows covered in Winnie’s hair? In it went. Blankets that had been used to mop up spit up? Threw them in, too. I also included August’s “questionable” items (stuffed animals, knits, baby blankets) to be “refreshed” via the LG Styler’s TrueSteam™ technology, which removes odors with hot steam and just leaves an all-over clean feeling.

Once his items were cleaned, I wanted to use the Styler for other rarely washed items: comforters, winter jackets and decorative pillows. Nothing was safe from our new steam machine. None of these items were outright dirty, but they were on my list of things to clean and sanitize at some point in time.

What I love about having the Styler at home is the absolute convenience. Pre-kiddo, Joe and I used to wear nice clothing. Joe still does wear nice clothing, but my needs are much less these days. One of the perks of running your own business is considering day old leggings and a tunic “business casual.” However, I recently had to be more presentable than I typically am for a potential partnership meeting. And (of course!) I realized this during a late night feeding. I was able to throw nice slacks and a blouse in the Styler after putting August down, and both were refreshed and ready to wear when I got up only a few hours later.

I was at first concerned with how we could integrate it in our home, but it seamlessly fits in with our decór; it looks like a sleek, modern closet and not the oversized machine I envisioned we would have to purchase when conducting research. If we do finish our laundry room, we’ll definitely incorporate the unit into the layout. If you have a walk-in closet (lucky you!), the LG Styler would be an amazing addition.

I’ve recently been actively avoiding buying things that need dry cleaning because the cost can add up. However, this is such a cool solution!

I’m obsessed with your style. Where is the dark grey turtle neck in the styler from? I’m on the hunt for some cute, light turtlenecks!
