15 Hand-Picked Mother’s Day Gift Ideas Every Mom Will Love

Lifestyle

Mother’s Day is coming up on Sunday, May 10, which means gifting season is upon us. And of all the gifting seasons, this one is often the most fraught. How can one gift possibly express the current a mother moves through—love, joy, fear, worry, all at once?

You don’t try. You tell them. And then you pick a gift that says I know you. I think about you. The you who lives outside this role you spend 24/7 fulfilling. The you who will still be here long after the kids are out of the house.

Gifts can be empty promises. Or they can be moments of recognition—the kind some people wait their whole lives for.

These are my favorite 2026 Mother’s Day gift ideas.

15 Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

1. Riviera: Recipes from the Coast of France and Italy by Mélanie Masarin, $40

This book releases on April 28 and checks all the boxes for a cookbook you’ll actually use. The author (who happens to be the founder of Ghia) built the book around her grandmother Mymo’s handwritten recipes and a philosophy of “flavor over fuss, connection over perfection.” It’s 101 simple French-Italian dishes, most with 10 ingredients or fewer. Buy the book on its own or as an exclusive bundle directly from Ghia.

2. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Meltdown Recovery Cream, $45

Formulated with 1% colloidal oatmeal (FDA-approved for eczema), it’s designed for skin in crisis mode. This is the cream for when her skin is having a moment. It is a legit skincare gift: fragrance-free and non-comedogenic, with the National Psoriasis Foundation Seal of Recognition, it is genuinely medicated and useful to have on hand.

3. J.Crew Soleil Pant in Linen, $98

Buying clothing for the mom who hates to shop can feel daunting, but it’s really such a nice way to take the dreaded task off her plate. These pants are foolproof. They run true to size, have a forgiving elastic band, and work for literally every outfit. I LOVE THESE PANTS. (Note: The French blue color is delicious and looks nothing like the photo on the model; use the product image for color reference.)

4. Electric Picks Mini Bentley Earrings, $70

If you want to gift actual diamond drops, this isn’t the brand. If you want the look of diamond drops in a demi-fine, lifetime-guaranteed piece, this is exactly it. They’ll repair or replate your jewelry free of charge, for life. She can wear it daily, in water, without the earlobe-greening situation.

5. Local Pastries (hand-delivered by you!)

My friend Deppy brought us pastries from Black Walnut last week, and they were a huge hit with everyone. Great for friends in the thick of motherhood, who just need a sweet treat and a little time off their feet.

6. Book of the Month Membership, starting at $60

One of the joys of reading is reading with others. This subscription solves the “I want to read more, but I don’t know what to pick” problem without surrendering curation to an algorithm. Real human editors and five to seven book options you choose from each month, so it respects the reader’s taste while doing the research for them.

7. Embroidered Journal, $48

An object of beauty! My morning creative practice is so precious to me. This is the journal I’ve been using for the past few weeks. The beetle-as-talisman, the small ritual of opening something beautiful before the day starts! I smile every time I reach for it. It’s a gift for the mother who wants to return to a creative life.

8. Japanese Watercolor Set, $59

I paint as part of my creative mornings practice, but not in the way you might think. I practice deliberately bad painting, where I actively put colors and strokes together that aren’t trying to be “good.” The practice is about reclaiming the parts of myself I lost to overfunctioning perfectionism. Highly recommend for any moms who have turned a beloved hobby into a full-time job.

9. Personalized Family Portrait, prices vary

Does she have a sense of humor? Skip the sentimental oil painting and memorialize your family’s likeness as Simpsons characters. Prices are reasonable and feel appropriate for the digital medium.

10. Uni Sunset Fragrance, $72

Sunset is the same scent as the brand’s 24-hour body serum. (I have been asking for it as a perfume for ages!) The rain scent is new, and it is a quiet scent, meaning you can pick up on it, but it doesn’t overtly smell like you’re wearing anything.

11. Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Seashell Throw, $220

This throw was gifted to me, and honestly, everyone in the house fights for who gets to wrap themselves in this blanket. I’ve always gone with wool or cotton fabrics, so this was my first experience with the CozyChic material. Wow. I get it. I understand now. What I like is that many blankets in this fabric are solid-colored and kept hidden away. You can leave this on the couch. It’s pretty. It’s also HUGE, so it can fit around one child and me with enough extra fabric to spare. Perfect for movie nights and lounging on the couch on a weekend morning.

12. Point-and-Shoot Camera, $100–$350

I got myself an Olympus Mju-1 (sold as Olympus Infinity Stylus in the US)—a 35mm point-and-shoot film camera, released in 1991. It fits great in your hand and is easy to throw in your purse for everyday use. There are retailers to purchase through, like Oh So Cult, or you can find a ton of reputable refurbishers on eBay and Etsy, and they are happy to communicate and answer your questions.

13. Mother! Tee from Shop Kristin Jones, $38

It’s not precious, not cutesy, not “World’s Best Mom” energy. It’s the tee version of the way you’d say it yourself: half exasperation, half badge of honor.

14. MoMA Miffy Baggu Zip Duck Bag, $40

For the mom who has taste and a sense of humor about childhood icons. The MoMA × Miffy x Baggu bag is playful without being precious. Sling on with jeans and a white t-shirt.

15. MoMa Tomato Glass Table Lamp, $125

For the mom who has real design taste and doesn’t need another “tasteful” neutral object. Pop, playfulness, a little absurdity on a console or bedside table.
