My 2022 Fall Bucket List: 20 Things I Want to Do This Season | Wit & Delight

While fall won’t *officially* arrive until next week, it’s feeling like the seasonal shift has begun here in Minnesota. The leaves are just starting to turn and the humid days of summer have been replaced with the crisp air of autumn.

Every time we transition into a new season, it feels like a bit of a fresh start—and that sense is amplified with fall. It feels like a season of change and it has me considering what I want the next few months of my life to look like. Hence, today’s fall bucket list blog post.

For me, the reality is that this fall is not going to be about fitting in lots of big activities. We really made the most of this summer and I came out of the season feeling very depleted. Instead of trying to fit as much as possible into fall, I want to instead prioritize what’s most important to me, with a particular focus on the things that will allow me to be truly present.

While my fall bucket list is still relatively comprehensive, my focus will be more about soaking in and celebrating the little moments and small joys of the season. I hope you can find opportunities to do a bit of the same.

My 2022 Fall Bucket List

  1. Spend more quality time with my family.
  2. Prioritize more one-on-one time with each of our kids.
  3. Bake a pie.
  4. Experience the fall colors up north.
  5. Continue to play tennis regularly.
  6. Have a bonfire in our backyard.
  7. Drink less alcohol than I did over the summer.
  8. Find more pockets of creativity in my days.
  9. Start working with a personal trainer, with a focus on strength training. (I asked for sessions as an early birthday present!)
  10. Work on smaller, simpler repairs and design updates around the house, rather than big makeovers.
  11. Related to the above, fix the crumbling step on the back patio.
  12. Go to an apple orchard with the family.
  13. Enjoy more quiet family meals at home. These all but fell by the wayside over our very social summer.
  14. Make no-knead bread.
  15. Make soup.
  16. Thoughtfully plan our kids’ Halloween costumes ahead of time.
  17. Stock my pantry and fridge with special ingredients that are a simple way to amplify any meal: garlic confit, really good tomato sauce, pickled ingredients, etc.
  18. Host a dinner party with close friends.
  19. Read Do Over by Jon Acuff.
  20. Read Vladimir by Julia May Jonas for my friend group’s next book club.

What’s on your fall bucket list this year?

The weather has barely turned here in Atlanta, but I am already ready for some pumpkin baked goods ASAP. Need to do that this week.

Nate from Bahr Health and Fitness is a great if you’re looking for a local trainer (based in Longfellow but does home sessions too).

I am so excited for Fall. Fall in the PNW is wonderful but also very short. I have a long list of things I want to do but I am not sure we will get them in before the rainy season starts.

I love the 2022 fall bucket list! I’ve never thought to make one, but I might consider it. I love #3 since I’ve never baked a pie before and #12 sounds so much fun!

Autumn is one of my favorite seasons because the weather is not too cold and not too hot, like spring. Here are some things I like to do:

  1. Go apple picking with friends and family.
  2. Wearing flannel and high waist jeans.
  3. Drinking a lot of hot coffee!
  4. Shopping for new clothes and taking time for myself.
  5. Listen to my fall playlist that I create in mid-August to early September. The playlist mostly consists of bands like the Strokes and Milky Chance (I know, basic)
