The 3 Skin-Care Products My Dermatologist Recommends Most | Wit & Delight

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about going back to the basics: to the clothing items I find myself wearing most fervently, the kitchen products I use most regularly, and the top priorities I can actually get done in each workday. We’ve taken this approach in updating our home, too, as we work to pare down the many, many design elements that were featured when we first bought it so that the ones we love most can have the space to truly shine. Simplifying, simplifying, simplifying.

This approach also applies to—you guessed it—my skin-care routine.

I’ve tried a number of skin-care products over the years, but it wasn’t until I finally consulted with my dermatologist that I found the products that, hands down, make the most noticeable positive difference in my skin.

Below you’ll find the three products that I continue to swear by, through and through. For all three, you don’t need to use a ton to be effective—a little goes a long way.

P.S. Please keep in mind that everyone’s skin texture is different! Before you purchase any of these items for yourself, here’s what you should know about my skin: It is dry and my biggest skin-care issues are dullness and fine lines. Please leave any other questions you might have below!

NeoCutis Exfoliating Skin Cleanser

$38

I use this cleanser morning and night. I love that it exfoliates and sloughs dead skin cells away while still being super gentle on my skin. I’ve found that when I’m using this product, I don’t even need to use a toner along with it. I’d highly recommend it.

SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum

$166

This vitamin C serum instantly makes my skin look brighter and more even. I use it in the morning (and sometimes at night) and it really instantly brightens my face. Out of any product I use, this one has made the most difference in my skin. There are absolutely less expensive options available (and if you have any recommendations, please do share them in the comments!) but my dermatologist said if I were to buy one of the skin-care products they recommend, it would be this one.

EltaMD Barrier Renewal Complex

$52

I love this product—it’s not a heavy cream but rather a delicate (but still very effective) moisturizer. It’s light enough to wear under makeup while still being moisturizing enough to feel the effects all day long. I use it at night as well!

Obagi Professional-C Serum 20% is slightly less expensive and I love it! I also find Sunday Riley C.E.O. 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum to be the most stable of all the Vitamin C serums, I switch between these two.

I’ve found that the Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil makes a noticeable difference in my skin. It’s brighter and the squalane keeps my face moisturized even in the winter. I wear it under makeup or alone over my moisturizer (which is different than most serums) for a little glow when I don’t wear anything but mascara.

I’m on my second jar of Model Off Duty Vitamin C cream, and LOVE IT! Within two weeks of use, it completely brightened and evened-out my skin tone. I recently purchased more of their products b/c I’m so happy. Also, their products are “clean” and made in the USA. Tried to link to their website directly, but it’s timing-out, so here’s the Amazon link (but buy from them directly instead of Amazon!):

The MaeLove glow maker antioxidant serum is a great SkinCeuticals dup for a fraction of the price

This list reminded me that I need to try out a vitamin C serum! Also, I love EltaMD’s products and I use their SPF daily! It’s one of the only sunscreens that doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily under makeup so I love.
