Kate's Picks: 7 Things I Tried in October and Loved | Wit & Delight

I soaked in as much of October as I could this year. I read and read and cooked and cooked and was outside as much as I could be. It’s been my happiest time of 2021 so far, and today I’m sharing a couple of my favorite things I loved that accompanied me through the month. I hope you enjoy browsing through them!

Looking for more things I tried and loved? You can find all of my previous posts on this topic here.

Follain Instant Glow Body Oil

$22

I love to spritz this body oil on my skin right out of the shower (or while I’m still in the shower). It has just enough scent and keeps me moisturized all day. Tip: The bottle can be a bit slippery in your hand so I hold mine with a towel when I apply it!

COOK

A Table for Friends by Skye McAlpine

$17

I’ve been cooking through A Table for Friends throughout October (find one of my favorite recipes in my October recipes roundup!). What I love most about this book is that the author, Skye, shares her tips for hosting alongside the recipes. The back of the book includes menu ideas for different occasions and below each recipe, she includes ideas for what dishes to pair it with. It’s such a helpful guide and the food is delicious. I’m hosting Cookbook Club in November and we’ll be cooking exclusively from this book—I can’t wait!

UNWIND

Jalashree Acupuncture

Prices Vary

This is a rec for Twin Cities locals! I’d received a number of recommendations to do acupuncture, and I finally started recently at Jalashree Acupuncture. At my first appointment, we spent almost an hour talking about how I’ve been feeling physically and emotionally, and we’re taking a really personalized treatment approach based on how overwhelmed I’ve been lately. Not only did I feel incredibly energized after my appointment, but I also felt really cared for.

As with any wellness treatment, if you’re unsure if acupuncture is right for you, I always recommend consulting a trusted healthcare professional before trying it out for yourself!

WRITE

Asvine Fountain Pen

$16

I’ve been exclusively writing with this fountain pen lately. The pen glides so beautifully and it makes for such a wonderful writing experience. For someone whose brain is constantly on the go, writing with a fountain pen makes the process of slowing down truly enjoyable.

No Cure for Being Human by Kate Bowler

$19

I loved this book so much. The author, Kate, went through such a wild experience facing her own mortality. The frankness with which she talks about being a young, overachieving woman grappling with cancer was sobering and enlightening. As someone who tends to think about mortality a lot, this kind of openness was deeply refreshing.

Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy

Included with an HBO Max Subscription

This show is soothing and entertaining all at once. Stanley Tucci is lovely and I want to put him in my pocket. While shows like this do bring on wanderlust, I think it’s only going to make the experience of international travel more euphoric when I eventually go again.

PLAN

Our 2022 Premium Planner – available at Design Loop and specialty retailers

Wit & Delight 2022 Planner

$20 & $34

Our 2022 planner is now available! This is the planner I start and end each week with. I love that it’s also a reminder to check in with yourself and reflect whenever you move from one month to the next. Purchase it for yourself to plan ahead for the new year, or give it as a holiday gift!

There are two different versions of the planner:

  • Premium Planner – 398 pages filled with room enough for all of your plans. This premium version includes a weekly check-in spread, custom seasonal artwork. This is the planner that I use – $34
  • Target Planner – A slimmed down version of our original planner, all the great planning tools without the original art or weekly check-in pages – $20

I sent the cookbook club article to a few of my close friends and a couple weeks ago we met together for the first time. I cooked a beef tenderloin ( it turned out so great!) and together we sat and ate and had a some wine and soaked up every second. Next Friday is our second meeting and I’m so looking forward to it! Thanks for the recommendation, it’s a perfect way to enjoy the company of close friends (from a couple of different friend groups) and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a creative excuse to… Read more »
