This April, I found a primer that quenches my dry skin, a fantasy romance series that fully transported me to another world, the softest robe for warm mornings, and frozen dumplings that taste like the ones you get at your favorite local Chinese restaurant. There’s all that and more (!) in this month’s Things I Tried and Loved.
I did a bunch of research on primers after my Laura Mercier one started causing my makeup to split on my face. It was enhancing imperfections rather than blurring them, for reasons I still cannot figure out. This RMS Beauty primer is a very different product and it honestly feels like you are applying a serum. Since I’ve started wearing this, I’ve noticed my face stays moisturized longer throughout the day and my makeup sits on top of it without rubbing all over the place. It works great with a tinted sunscreen too, which means my summer beauty routine should be off to a good start.
I got a couple of these hair forks and put them in drawers around the house for easy access. I find myself grabbing them a lot to put my hair up when I’m cooking! They’re functional and look great too—a win-win.
Gosh, this robe is good. It’s the perfect lightweight jersey cotton, hits right at my ankles, and the neckline is so flattering. I often look like a big marshmallow in terry cloth robes but feel very chic when I find one like this that gives my figure definition.
A girlfriend of mine introduced me to Fly By Jing Sichuan Chili Crisp and I loved the unique flavor and branding. Fly By Jing also offers frozen dumplings, which are my favorite quick meal to keep stocked in my freezer. There are a couple of different flavors available for purchase directly from their website and they’re all so good.
I’ve become so very into the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. If you like Game of Thrones and Normal People, PLEASE READ THIS SERIES. And if you are a fan, DM me and let’s chat.
Joe bought me a pair of these Birkenstock slides in black and I wear them all the time. They are lightweight, durable, and comfortable.
Forest Lungs is a wearable fragrance that is also meant to make you feel less stressed. It smells like stepping into the Pacific Northwest in the most refreshing way. That characteristic is something particularly special when you’re stuck in an everlasting winter in the middle of the country. Joe keeps stealing it from my dresser to wear himself.
P.S. If you’re curious to try it but don’t want to commit to the full size right away, you can order the 10 ml size for $30 or the tester 1 ml size for $3.
This show is special. The dancing is incredible and Lizzo is amazing. More of this, please!!

A Court of Thorns and Roses totally got me back into being a voracious reader. If you haven’t read them yet, I’d suggest reading the Throne of Glass series and then the two Crescent City books!
