Behind-The-Scenes at The HGTV Dream Home 2019

Interiors & Decor

My first trip to Whitefish, Montana was far from disappointing: presenting breathtaking sights around every corner, each one more beautiful than the last. An outdoor enthusiast’s dream location with mountains, lakes, and trails for miles, quiet and quaint, free of the commercialized gloss known to established ski towns. Hidden amongst the trees, where the mountains meet the sky, sits the most beautiful lodging, a literal dream home.

I was fortunate enough to see the HGTV® Dream Home 2019 up and personal while visiting Montana last month. The property itself is situated on the edge of Glacier National Park with sweeping views of Whitefish Lake and the Rocky Mountains in the renowned Flathead Valley. Timber Forge Design, hand and hand with Malmquist Construction and designer, Brian Patrick Flynn of Flynnside Out Productions, truly made the most of it. 3,650 Square feet in size, the three bedroom, three-and-a-half bath home invites guests to indulge in the active lifestyle, or savor some relaxation time whilst cozied up by the fireplace.

Constructed using the finest materials and packed with thoughtful touches, the retreat boasts a beautiful focal point: floor-to-ceiling windows that open directly from the kitchen and living room out to an expansive outdoor area, including two seating areas. One flanked by a Belgard fireplace and the other with built-in seating and grilling station (providing the grillmaster with the best view of the house).

It’s a welcome trend, seeing housing footprints become more modest while making the most of outdooring living. It’s a myth to think northern homes can’t make use of their outdoor spaces all year round. In fact, with the right set up (which Belgard nailed for this year’s Dream Home), you’re able to host an entire outdoor dining experience while keeping everyone comfortable and toasty, even through the coldest months. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a winter evening than enjoying the outdoors complete with a warm bath to ease into at the end of the night.

Now through February 18, 2019, enter for your chance to win the HGTV Dream Home 2019, plus a $250K cash prize provided by national mortgage lender Quicken Loans® (grand-prize package valued at over $2.3 million!). Two entries are permitted daily, one via HGTV and one via DIY Network. For more information on giveaway terms and conditions visit

Good luck!
