Maybe it’s just the *way I live* but you can tell where I’ve been by looking at the rims of the glasses in our home. I leave a little lipstick trail wherever I consume liquids. And as much as I love a bold lip, I don’t like having to reapply lipstick every hour! 

Last month I did a bit of research into some highly-rated long-wear lipstick products. They get a bad rap for being drying and generally not enjoyable to wear, but because I haven’t tried one since the early ‘00s, it was time to see what breakthroughs have since been made in formulations. 

I purchased a variety of lipsticks ranging in price from $11 all the way up to $39. Unfortunately, where I spent the most cash was also where I was most disappointed. The moral of the story is you do not always get what you pay for when it comes to long-wear lipstick! (For the record, the two I tried that I didn’t like, mainly because they didn’t stay on my lips very long, were these: Lancôme L’Absolu Lacquer Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick and Armani Beauty Lip Power Long-Lasting Satin Lipstick.)

Here are my three favorite long-wear lipstick products. 

1. NYX Shine Loud Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick (shown above)

Price: $11

This product showed up on a number of articles I read and was also an Amazon bestseller. I purchased both a muted red color and my go-to nude in a mauve shade. 

Colors purchased: Rebel in Red and Life Goals 
Likes: You can wear this lipstick with or without the gloss on top. You can also layer this nicely by applying, blotting, and reapplying. I use this method to build a more natural look with my red lipsticks and found it helped me get the same stained look with the long wearability I wanted. 
Dislikes: This would be quite difficult to apply without a mirror. 
How long does it tend to stay on your lips? 3-4 hours

2. Kuckian Cosmetics Liquid Velvet Supremé Matte Lipstick

Price: $18

This product was recommended to me AFTER I purchased the other two on this list. It had so many positive reviews I thought I would give it a go and I’m so glad I did!

Color purchased: SIMI 
Likes: I LOVE the shade and the opacity of the formula. The product came with three different brushes for a very detailed application (although I haven’t found the need for them yet).
Dislikes: Honestly nothing!
How long does it tend to stay on your lips? Up to six hours

3. Maybelline Super Stay Vinyl Ink Liquid Lipcolor

Price: $10

Great reviews on multiple websites helped this product make the list of lipsticks I tried. While it has a couple of minor downsides, I like it overall!

Color purchased: Peachy 
Likes: There are really pretty shades and the price point is great. 
Dislikes: I’m not wild about the scent as I tend to prefer odorless products. It is also a little on the sticky side. 
How long does it tend to stay on your lips? 5-6 hours
