Season 1 of this podcast is about the wild true story of doomsday cult leader Sherry Shriner. It’s particularly interesting given the rise of misinformation and groupthink that runs rampant on the Internet.
The last time I watched Curb Your Enthusiasm was a decade ago, and I’ve recently returned to this beloved show. I’ve always had a soft spot for Larry David, but in this era, I’ve never needed his humor more. I find the show so much more humorous, relevant, and refreshing than I used to.
This show made me laugh in ways I hadn’t in quite some time. It’s set in Northern Ireland in the 90s (a time period when I’d visited Ireland and knew families who lived there). The juxtaposition of teenage problems set during a time of such unrest is both nuanced and darkly comedic. It’s an absolute gem of a show (but consider watching with the subtitles on!).
